Only 24 years old, the Malian Fatoumata Diawara has created a mobile application « Ekeneya », which means (health online) in Bambara language, available on playstore and a new version was put online in June 2018 and covers several cities of Mali. The goal is simple: geo-locate health structures, but not only.
Fatoumata Diawara, born January 4, 1992 in Bamako, is the youngest of a family of four (4) girls. After her Bachelor of Science in 2008, she earned her Master in Networks and Telecommunications to Amadou Bah Hampaté University of Dakar, Senegal.
How did she get the idea to create this app? It was during a malaise that her father had in February 2014 that Fatoumata had the idea of such a project.
Set up an « Ekeneya » mobile application to geo-locate health facilities, make appointments and list medicines that are covered by Compulsory Health Insurance (Amo), a social protection system that allows Malians to access health care at a lower cost.
« Ekeneya » helps users make decisions in real time, provides basic information on health in Mali and almost the entire country.
In the process of creating the application, the difficulties did not fail. funding problems through the identification of all structures and health workers in Mali, it was not easy.
Fatoumata Diawara is a promoter of AKDI, a private company created in 2016, evolving in the field of health through ICT. The company is based in Bamako headquartered in Kalaban-coura, a popular district in the Malian capital.
Married and mother of a daughter, Mrs. Diallo, who personally had to invest in the project without having to return so far, also works in a telecommunications company in Bamako since late 2014.
