Next Monday, April 17 will be a special day for the Yewwi askan wi (Yaw) Coalition. In addition to the appeal trial of one of the leaders of this group of opposition parties, this date is also the date on which the appeal judgment of the deputies of the Unity and Rally Party (Pur) and members of the Yaw parliamentary group, Massata Samb and Mamadou Niang.
These two parliamentarians were the subject of a conviction at the end of their trial at first instance against their colleague from Benno bokk yaakaar (Bby), the parliamentarian mayor of Gniby, Amy Ndiaye. Her Yaw colleagues received a six-month prison sentence and were fined 100,000 CFA francs and damages in the amount of 5 million francs to be paid to the civil party for the counts of intentional assault and death threats against MP Bby Amy Ndiaye Gniby.
During their appearance at first instance, the deputies Massata Samb and Mamadou Niang denied having attacked their colleague Amy Ndiaye Gniby within the Hemicycle, during the vote on the draft budget of the Ministry of Justice.
In a state of pregnancy at the time of the events, Amy Ndiaye Gniby had had a medical certificate stating a temporary incapacity for work of 23 days, issued by her doctor.
