The 143rd edition of the Call of Seydina Limamou Laye ended yesterday in Yoff. Antoine Félix Diome, the Minister of the Interior, and the leaders of the Layene community presided over the ceremony and insisted on the promotion of peace and especially the preservation of the brotherhoods, which are increasingly attacked in recent times, especially on social networks.
Political violence, attacks against brotherhoods is a concern for religious people:… During the closing ceremony of the 143rd edition of the Call of Seydina Limamou Laye, Seydina Issa Laye Thiaw, General Coordinator of the event, insisted on the importance of the Tarikhas in the preservation of peace in this country. He said: « Our Tarikhas are weapons, support on which the country can sit on to work and achieve something great. The Dahiras are alternatives, because they are cultural circles. Those who wish the end of the Tarikhas are not part of those who claim to be. For the son of the late Serigne Abdoulaye Thiaw, former Khalife General of the Layènes, the Call of Seydina Limamou Laye is a moment to strengthen sociological links.
This is the content of the speech by Seydina Mame Libasse Laye, representative of the Khalifa General, SerigneMouhamadou Makhtar Laye. « Seydina Limamou Laye said: « Answer the call of God. I am a messenger of God.”
“He fought yesterday and today for God and for Islam. Everyone is reminded of this call. Let it be pronounced in the same way as the one he delivered so that everyone expects it, » Seydina Mame Libasse Laye said, drawing on the teachings of Seydina Limamou Laye, to say that the Mahdi always advocated peace. « I seek peace. I call on everyone to cultivate peace, » said the representative of the General Khalifa of the Layenes.
This intervention by the representative of the General Khalifa of the Layènes follows that of Antoine Félix Diome. « We have come to attend the 143rd anniversary of the call of Seydina Limamou Laye. He invited us to return to God. What we have in Senegal is enough for us.
We Senegalese are privileged because Baye Laye is Senegalese. We will never neglect the legacy of the elders. If all the wealth is concentrated in our country and the behaviour is bad, it will be useless. There are many countries that are richer than us, but cannot benefit from it because without peace, nothing can be done. He added: « This is why I am delighted with the theme: peace and development. Seydina Limamou taught us non-violence before we knew Gandhi and Martin Luther King. » In Yoff, the Minister of the Interior gave his speech in front of a delegation of Yewwi askan wi mayors led by Barthélemy Dias. Through this cohabitation, he evoked Senegal as a « decentralised unitary state ».
