Health: this North African country innovates for the benefit of its population

As part of the second edition of the World Population, Health and Human Development Congress (PHDC24), the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population organized a dialogue session titled “The Power of Culture and Media : Form healthy perceptions and human behaviors”.

The session was chaired by Dr Khaled Abdul Ghafar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population of Egypt.
It aimed to highlight the importance of culture and media in raising awareness of health and human development issues.
Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghafar stressed that culture plays a central role in transforming beliefs and behaviors, especially among young people.

He highlighted cooperation with the Ministry of Culture to integrate awareness messages through drama and educational programs.

He also stressed the need for a joint approach to increase awareness campaigns, emphasizing reliable and non-commercial information.

Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henou spoke about the importance of culture in shaping ideas and identities in Egyptian society.

Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henou spoke about the importance of culture in shaping ideas and identities in Egyptian society.

He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to achieve human development goals through collaborative projects with various ministries, using art, music and theatre as tools to address social and health challenges.

The ministry is working to expand its influence across governorates with cultural palaces aimed at reaching a wide audience and promoting health awareness.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hossam Abdul Ghafar, also noted the impact of drama on public awareness, citing studies that demonstrate their influence on health-related behaviors and decisions.

He stressed the importance of improving the skills of health media professionals to disseminate messages effectively.

Dr. Amr Saif, Director of Pfizer Egypt, recalled that the vision “Egypt 2030” is based on human development, and that culture plays a key role in achieving this goal.

He proposed strengthening cooperation with the ministry to organize training workshops for health media.

Director Tariq Refaat stressed the role of drama in combating rumors and misinformation, stressing the importance of producing works that enlighten the public on health and population issues.
