IGE Report on her Financial Management of the CESE: Mimi’s Denial – Lequotidien

Former Prime Minister Mimi Touré wants a public hearing of the three presidents of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Cese) appointed by Macky Sall. She believes this will prove her good management. She took the opportunity to ignore the accusations of the General State Inspectorate (Ige).

« A totally false information with the sole purpose of undermining my honour and at the same time, create a counterfire to the scandalous management of the 1000 billion of Covid funds. » This is Mimi Touré’s line of defence to the information published yesterday by Le Quotidien and other media on a report by the General Inspectorate of State (Ige), which pinned her management of the Cese for an amount of more than two billion CFA francs. In a statement, the former president of the Cese, who refused to respond to our phone questions the day before yesterday, asks for a « collective public hearing of the Ige » of the 3 presidents of this institution that Macky appointed, to prove, « in the eyes of the Senegalese that the Economic, Social and Environmental Council has never been as well managed as under my presidency ». She hopes that these hearings will take place in the presence of the media.

This defence strategy allows the dissenting former head of the list of the parliamentary coalition Benno, to not provide an answer to questions about her management. The Ige report shows that « the total sum of two billion 136 million 458 thousand 919 CFA francs was budgeted and executed under conditions that did not comply with the regulations ». As if for good measure, the Ige report notes « withdrawals of large sums of cash from bank account n*SN011… ». The total amountof these withdrawals, spread over the year 2020, reaches almost one and a half billion CFA francs. This did not prevent the former Special Envoy of Macky Sall to retort in her statement that « this ancient technique of intimidation cannot impress me at all », while recalling the summons of Macky by the police of the Plateau on the Taiwanese Fund in 2011 on the eve of the Presidential election. « Nothing can distract me from my objective of sharing with my Senegalese fellow citizens, my vision for a better Senegal, on the occasion of the next presidential election in February 2024 in which President Macky Sall will not participate according to the unequivocal provisions of the Constitution and as he has publicly committed, » hammered Mimi Touré.
