To inquire about the progress of the GTA gas project, the Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Sophie Gladima, in the company of her Mauritanian counterpart, Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, in charge of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, paid a visit yesterday to the site located 10 km off the coast of St Louis.

These authorities, the first to set foot on the gas terminal, were welcomed by the vice-president of Bp, who hailed « the success of the project ». “The project has reached a progress rate of over 87% and is in its critical phase, and now more than ever we expect the continued support of both governments, which will be crucial in ensuring a connection and a smooth integration in order to bring all the pieces together in a single megaproject,” said Emile Ismalov, quoted in a press release from the Petroluem Ministry.

Welcoming the satisfactory progress of the project, Ms. Gladima encouraged Bp and its contracting partners, in particular Kosmos, Smh and Petrosen, to continue this dynamic for a rapid and secure completion of the installations.

For his part, the Mauritanian minister also welcomed the progress noted and remains confident about the start of production scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

The Minister of Environment, Alioune Ndoye, the Managing Director of Petrosen Holding, Adama Diallo, and the Director of Fisheries were also present.
